SM-80 is an add-on wireless PIR motion sensor for SecurityMan Air-Alarm system. Its wireless transmitting distance is up to 450ft (in open region). It contains a 9V alkaline battery which could final up to 2 years. Motion detection range is 100° 10x10m.
Buyer Evaluations
The PIR sensor functions particularly nicely. It scans each and every five seconds reacts incredibly immediately. I ordered extra sensors to compliment the Air Alarm kit I ordered. The adjustability of the mounting tends to make it quick to aim when a mounting place is chosen.
Of the three sensors, there is one particular that appears to have one undesirable trait. I am unsure if it is special to that sensor or if it is considering that it is in a high traffic location or bad luck with 9V batteries. The PIR scans each 5 seconds according the manual and when it detects movement, it glows red. The sensor in question has applied three 9V batteries because it was mounted. The original battery did not last quite long and I assumed it was mainly because it was a no name battery included with the unit. The second lasted three months and it did not glow "white" when the battery is low according to the manual. The red LED merely would was not as brilliant as standard (it was a 9V that I had, but tested "fantastic" with the battery tester prior to installed- so it could have been just undesirable luck with two batteries). It is on it's third battery in six months. That is the only issue that has come up since the installation and so far just with one of the three PIR sensors. The Air Alarm and sensors are not even one year old but, but the PIR does work as stated.
When these work, they're good. I currently have five installed, and typically speaking, they perform appropriately. On the other hand, of the eight total that I have ordered, I have had difficulties with 3: a single would not turn on at all, one looked like it was turned on but wouldn't detect motion, and the third a single detects motion inconsistently. I am returning the two that don't function at all (via Amazon) I will update the critique if there are any problems with the return.
