Consumer Critiques

If youre looking for hi tech crystal clear images and detailed images, move on. If you just want a standard, uncomplicated to install CCTV program this is great. Its as easy as mount the cameras with 3 screws, plug the cameras into the cables, run the wires to the unit and plug them in. Its easier than the average surround sound system.
the night vision is OK, operates well in darkness up to about 10 feet the images are black white though. The overall image quality is OK, if someone is inside about 15 feet the image is clear adequate to recognize a stranger by the photo. Past 30 feet you'd have a hard time distingushing in between Jessica Simpson and Hillary Clinton. When you try to 'zoom' the image it gets fairly grainy, so forget that concept. The field of view is pretty narrow, so if you are making use of it in a smaller space (10x10 space) the view is restricted.
Overall, its a breeze to put in and use, just dont count on the top image excellent. if youre a smaller organization or a homeowner, its fine even though.

Do your analysis. I've noticed a lot of negative testimonials for Zmodo DVR's on other internet sites from people today that do not know something about CCTV IR based camera systems...
I personal 2 of these DVR systems, in my knowledge they are the perfect. For years I struggled with PCI based DVR solutions, (SAMS club specials to) they ALL SUCK. The software for all PCI based cards is the exact same Chinese garbage. No support, no updates, brief operational life.
Out of the box the Zmodo systems work really properly and devoid of hassle. Couple of points to this...
1 Camera top quality, for the price you can't count on the ideal. The most crucial function here is the DVR and these are worth the price tag (- cameras). These don't have much range, they are as well smaller you seriously have to have to tailor cameras to your atmosphere. Buy a larger one particular for distance visibility at night. Do your study. You can't expect these to see a license plate 15" away.
2 To increase image high quality use coax and not the dual cables provided. Lot of good quality loss in these but it isn't practical for suppliers to sell these with big coax bundles shipping would consume you.
Only complaint I have is the manual is negative engrish.
Regarding the actual DVR, it really is fairly simple to use, the interface isn't the very best but it is greater than other systems. The IE software is like all IE computer software, its buggy. This one particular is not compatible with mac but you can use vMEye on your iPhone to view it remotely. There are other alternatives for Mac, I don't ding the DVR for bad third party integration. DVR should certainly be standalone and perform on its personal anyway. The newer model is mac compatible. As for upgrades, there are non, but its fairly rock solid as is. Would be good to be able to shell into it to play with the linux construct on it. Once again I would not ding this product for the lack of upgrades when you compare it to the rest of the low finish DVR marketplace.
Lastly support. I had some problems with the final 1 I ordered missing parts and getting a mixing concern (maybe woot concern). The help was quite surprising. I hadn't necessary it prior to. Make confident you call the US assistance, don't e mail or use internet chat it goes to China.
